Trump Derangement Syndrome is making dems say the darnedest things.
A Democrat wants the new SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh to recuse himself from Mueller related cases, citing Kavanaugh could be the swing-vote for Trump’s impeachment case.
Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal (Conn.) said on Tuesday that the Senate should oppose Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's Supreme Court nominee, if he doesn't agree to recuse himself from legal cases tied special counsel Robert Mueller's probe.
"I'm a no on this nominee. My colleagues should be a no on this nominee unless Judge Kavanaugh specifically commits that he will recuse himself on any issues that involve President Trump's personal financial dealings or the special counsel," Blumenthal said during a rally outside the Supreme Court.
He added that Kavanaugh would be the "swing vote" on cases deciding if Trump could pardon himself or if a sitting president could be indicted or be forced to appear before a grand jury. Trump has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and decried Mueller's investigation as a "witch hunt."
Kavanaugh would also decide if Trump "will be stopped from violating the Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution as he's doing every day," Blumenthal said. "Whether our lawsuit ...to hold him accountable and stop him from violating that clause can go forward."
